Six Core Strengths®: Communication Effectiveness in EMS Billing

6 Core Strengths-Communication

With a relentless commitment to excellence, EMERGICON prides itself on having carved a contagious reputation throughout Texas. From the unwavering dedication to customer satisfaction that ensures exceeding expectations to the commitment to compliance in EMS billing that stands as a cornerstone of our business, EMERGICON evolved as a force for good within the ambulance billing industry. This blog series will explore the Six Core Strengths® that set us apart and contribute to our continued success. We previously discussed the continuum of care (patient relationship), and now we highlight communication.

What It Is

From a business perspective, communication signifies exchanging information between an organization and its internal and external stakeholders. Effective communication, promoted by compelling strategies that are specific to each respective audience, is crucial for a company’s success. These strategies can have an internal focus, for example, meetings and intranet, that engage the team and strengthen organizational culture. It can also have an external emphasis to boost messages to clients and prospects, such as social media, newsletters, and marketing campaigns.

Effective communication plays a vital role in establishing and maintaining relationships, engaging the workforce, and ensuring customer satisfaction. Ultimately, it enables companies to adapt to the ever-changing market dynamics, contributing to long-term growth and profitability.

Why It Matters

EMERGICON fosters communication at all levels. From a business to customer perspective, every department is trained to engage with clients, industry professionals, and patients with professionalism and responsiveness. On the front end of this direct communication, the Client Services team assists clients regarding questions and requests. The department also executes Strategic Conversations to educate clients about growth opportunities.

More indirectly, the Marketing department provides clear and timely communications to clients and non-clients alike. “We are consistently publishing industry-relevant information through our communication channels. We stay updated about news and regulations to share clear and easy-to-understand information firsthand with our clients, followers, and subscribers. Our goal is to expand the connection with our audience and reinforce the EMERGICON brand as a reliable source of information,” states the Marketing Content Creator, Taina Rodrigues-Wells

From a company to employees standpoint, EMERGICON follows the Entrepreneurial Operating System (EOS). This system guides how the company’s leadership and teams meet, solve problems, follow processes, and communicate. As noted in the book What The Heck is EOS? by Gino Wickman & Tom Bouwer: “[With EOS approaches] open and honest communication flows freely across departments, and you solve issues and make decisions easier and faster. There is greater ownership and accountability throughout the organization. Most importantly, you know where you fit in the bigger picture and how to contribute to the overall Vision of your company.”

Take-Aways about Communication

1. EMERGICON’S Core Values encourage communication-effective behaviors. The “Think With Me” value inspires team members to share information. Equally important, the Core Value “On It” motivates the staff to be fanatic about response time and get clear on expectations. Lastly, the “Be A Light” value recommends that coworkers create a tone of friendliness and warmth and speak straight.

2. The Marketing department ensures clear, timely, and industry-relevant information to clients and non-clients. Some of the communication best practices promoted by the team are daily updates on Facebook and LinkedIn pages, weekly posts on the website blog, and a monthly email newsletter for clients and subscribers.

3. EOS inspires EMERGICON’s internal communications practices. These practices include biweekly meetings to discuss each team’s operations and quarterly conversations to provide feedback to each team member.
