Supplemental Payment Program – Charity Care

We capture, maintain, and produce the data necessary to help our clients yield additional revenue through the Texas Ambulance Supplemental Payment Program (TASPP), a unique reimbursement opportunity designed to reduce the gap between the cost of offering EMS services and reimbursement from Medicaid.

TASPP - Texas Ambulance Supplemental Payment Program

Known as Charity Care or Uncompensated Care, TASPP (Texas Ambulance Supplemental Payment Program) is a pot of funds available to help pay the costs of EMS services rendered to individuals who are not on Medicare/Medicaid or commercial insurance, and who reasonably cannot pay because they are indigent or below the poverty line.

TASPP reimbursements are made on a case-by-case basis – and your EMERGICON team supports the process from start to finish:

  • We maintain information about all runs, both charity care and non-charity care, throughout the year.
  • Working with the 3rd party vendor of your choice, we provide all the necessary data for the TASPP application.
  • We actively advocate for your agency with your 3rd party vendor, who will assist you in completing the application for TASPP.

Though the exact amount of cost recovery is unknown at the time of application, investing in the TASPP process is a smart way to recover a portion of revenue that otherwise would be lost entirely.
