Patient Services & FAQs

“The EMT went above and beyond. He told me that they would not leave me and stayed with me until the nurse was with me and was taking care of me. He was very gentle and kind, went out of his way to make me comfortable.”

Common Questions & Answers

BLS stands for Basic Life Support. ALS stands for Advanced Life Support. These terms are applied to your bill based on the assessments made, interventions performed, and tools used to stabilize your condition during your ambulance transport.

EMS fees are based on a variety of factors. While the EMS provider’s governing body – whether it be a City Council, Emergency Services District Board, Commissioners Court, or Board of Directors – has final say on what fees are approved, factors such as regional comparisons, demographics, and the behavior of commercial insurance companies all feed into the establishment of fees for an EMS service.

The primary reason that the balance on your bill does not match what is shown on your Explanation of Benefits (EOB) is because most EMS providers are out-of-network for major insurance carriers. As an out-of-network provider, the insurance company will not cover your bill in the same way that they would for an in-network provider. Please call (972) 602-2060 or 1 (877) 602-2060 to discuss your specific situation. We would be happy to walk you through the differences.

If you are an attorney, please submit your request via www.chartswap.com with the EMS service as the Provider.

Medicare regulations require the beneficiary's own signature, except in certain situations.  For your claim to be submitted to Medicare, we must have your signature or the signature of a representative and the reason why you, as the patient, cannot sign.  If a signature is not obtained as required, you could be responsible for the entire balance.

We accept all major credit/debit cards, checking /savings accounts, as well as HSA and Flex spending accounts as payment.

There is a charge whenever EMS personnel are called out to do a medical assessment, even if you are not transported to the hospital. This treatment “in the field” is generally not covered by insurance or by Medicare/Medicaid.

EMERGICON is a billing agency partnered with your EMS provider – think of us as the accounting & finance department. We handle the billing and payment process from beginning to end.

I still have questions.

Patient Compliments

"I called your company this morning to pay a bill, and I wanted to let you know about what a pleasant experience I had. I spoke with Tammy and she was able to help me completely. She was so kind and warm, and I just wanted to let you know what a great job she is doing. So often people are just trying to take your payment and rush you off the phone. While she helped me expeditiously, she did so while making me feel like a person who mattered. Tammy is a wonderful, kind employee, and I just wanted to let you know of the positive impact she is making."
