Encouraging this mindset and guiding the business’ frontline is our executive leadership team. This blog series introduces the experts who fuel our innovation, drive our excellence, and shape our future.

Rahim Fancy is the Vice President of Finance at EMERGICON. He is the newest addition to the leadership team after assuming the position in 2023. Rahim leads the Finance, Accounting, Sales, Quality Management, and Human Resources departments.

Operating from the idea of “driving a broader change,” Rahim is passionate about developing connections and work opportunities across departments. He recognizes data as a crucial and reliable source of information with benefits for distinct areas. Through this insightful conversation, Rahim shares his perspective on EMERGICON’s culture and plans to explore opportunities that drive growth. Let’s hear from Rahim.

Vision

When you started as the VP of Finance, what did you envision for EMERGICON?

Before I started in this role, the leadership team already had a good idea of what they wanted changed and done in the company. So, they brought some ideas to the table. Once we started to work on these ideas, we decided we needed to analyze and improve. For example, cleaning up our accounting software system and planning ways to expand the team to support our current positioning and future growth. Also, providing better analysis and having a finance perspective on every deal so we can make decisions based on real numbers. The goal was to be more proactive and less reactive.

What do you envision now for EMERGICON’s future?

I’m working on a couple of projects in tandem. The priority for now is to get our basics done. The next phase would be a better analysis of things and a better assessment of the medium and long-term aspects. For instance, starting new projects and tools that will bring another level of efficiency and insights that we really need.

Achievements

What are the accomplishments you’re most proud of?

Considering the amount of time I’ve been in this position, I’m most proud of earning the trust and respect of the team. For me, that’s been such an important point. That coordinates with how EMERGICON operates. I feel incredibly blessed that the team trusts me enough and is willing to follow my lead. That’s the biggest achievement for me so far.

Culture

What’s your favorite thing about EMERGICON’s culture and values?

The best thing is that we truly appreciate and look out for our people. We have a culture that is not about one individual; we take care of each other. We ensure things are good and everyone brings a high level of accountability to themselves, their teams, and each other, which elevates our performance.

As a leader, how do you promote the company’s culture with your team?

I treat everyone like the qualified professionals they are and don’t micromanage. With me, it’s just “tell me what you need; tell me what I can do to help; how can I support and ensure your success?” Besides that, I also try to be available, approachable, honest, and optimistic. I believe you must be sincere, show that you care, and try to understand what’s happening to them. As a leader, my job is to protect my team and clear the path for whatever they need. Much of this comes from my past work experiences, things that I found beneficial and helped me with my previous leaders.

Sense of Purpose

How would you say your job makes a difference?

From a business perspective, I make a difference by enabling the company and the rest of the teams to be most effective. I get to mix and be this collaborative individual who works with all the teams to support and provide insight we don’t usually have. I get to be the “hard numbers interpreter” for leadership, allowing us to assess our goals and strategy and ensure they are in line. From a general standpoint, it’s a privilege to serve first responders. It’s a beautiful thing what our team members do to assist these providers. So, to be a part of that and ensure our success to continue to provide the quality service our clients deserve is super meaningful. We operate with a level of ethics and integrity that makes a difference, and our partners recognize that.

What do you love about your job?

Our culture is probably my favorite thing. It’s real, it’s practical, and we work very hard to maintain that. I have a fantastic set of team members I’ve inherited – we retain the best people we can and want them to have a successful career here. Also, the leadership team that I get to work with every day, and they are some of the best people I’ve met. We’re all genuinely service-focused and cohesive about our goals and what we want to achieve. I’m just truly blessed and appreciative of all of that.
